(Allen L. Pryor stated in the Goodspeed History that he was born in White
Co., TN in 1816 and that his family did not move to Sumner Co. until the
late 1820's. This family is believed to be John Pryor and his wife Massa
Taylor, the parents of Allen L. Pryor. However researcher Katherine Rus-
sell reports this to be the John Pryor and family who later moved to Sanga-
mon Co., IL as his children married in to the Hitchcock, Sailors and other
surnames of neighboring families.)
