Sumner

Allen L. Pryor's Old Spring House.Old fashioned refrigerator. They kept milk and other food in there to keep cool. This spring house was at the bottom of a large hill, on the other side of the hill is the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, the homestead of Anna Eliza Pryor Simmons and James Pryor.

Martha Pryor, b. 1898 in Jamestown, TN . Martha was the daughter of John McHenry Pryor and Lee Ann, possibly a Conaster. Martha married Joe C. Jackson and later John Saunders. She was counted on the 1900-1920 Census in Pickett Co., TN and in 1930 was living with many Pryor family members in McCreary Co., KY.

Born Aug. 7, 1851 in Sumner Co., TN. Mary Ellen was the daughter of Jonathan Pryor and wife Ellen Lee. A grand daughter of John Pryor and Massy Taylor. Mary Ellen was living with Major and Virginia May in Sumner Co. at the time of the 1860 Census. In 1870 she was counted in White Co., IL with her husband William McDonald Kincade. She died in Franklin Co. IL on Jan. 15, 1929. ( Photo contributed by Barbara VanHout)

Robert Milton Pryor b. 1868 in Overton Co., TN. He resided with his wife Martha Jane Regan in Lillydale, Clay Co., TN. He died in 1937. Robert's father was William H. Pryor b. Feb. 1834 and married Rutha Dial, daughter of Jane Dial.

The Rockbridge School was built in 1850. John Edward Pryor, a son of Allen L. Pryor, taught there for many years. He taught there when Eugenia Hill, who later became his wife was a student. The building has been used as a home after another school was built, siding and porch were added later. It was then turned in to a barn as it is today. (photo submitted by Dewey Pryor)

Aaron Lindsey Pryo.r His tombstone reads "Prier". First married to Myrtle Peden, and later to Ethyl McGriff. His children were Annie and Robert (from his first marriage), Clyde, Henry Mark, Wilbur Loften, Eugene "Gene", Willy, Helen, Danese, Oneita, Edith, and Lula. Aaron was the son of John G. Pryor of Giles Co., TN. (below) Home of Aaron Lindsey Pryor in Campbellsville, TN and his tombstone in Campbellsville Cemetary.
