George T. Pryor, Jr. wrote in the Texas County, MO Heritage Vol II, 1989, Published by the Texas County Genealogical Society:
We are the descendants of John Pryor, who was a descendant of Robert Pryor of Virginia, 1669. John Pryor married Margaret Gaines in 1718. Neely Pryor was the great-great grandson of John Pryor and Margaret Gaines Pryor. Neely was the son of William and Sarah Williams Pryor who settled in Greene County in the fall of 1840, coming from Roane County, TN.
Neely Pryor (b.1810-d.Aug.14, 1884) and wife Margaret Thomas Pryor (b.1809 - d.1860) moved their family to Missouri in 1840 settling in Pulaski County, then to Laclede, Webster and Texas Counties in 1860 at Dykes.  [For better clarity, that should read "by 1860 Neely was living in the Dykes community of Texas County, MO]
After the death of Margaret, Neely married Elizabeth R. Wakefield in 1864.
Neely was a blacksmith by trade and had a blacksmith shop at Dykes. He donated 2 acres of land for a church and cemetery in Dykes.
Neely died Aug. 14, 1884 and is buried in the Dykes Cemetery along with his first wife, Margaret, and his mother Sarah.

Neely and Margaret's children:
Ealsey J. (1830) married John D. McCain
Benjamin N. (1833) married Hannah Smith
Philip A. (1835) married Elizabeth Helon McCain, sister to John D. McCain. Philip A. entered the Civil War. He survived the war but died in Arkansas on his way home.
